You are invited to attend the Kurdistan Region's second international sports conference, 'Regional Sport, International Participation', hosted by the Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Sports and Youth.

The conference is set to bring together experts from around the world - including Olympic and Paralympic athletes, policy makers, coaches, administrators and academics - who will share their expertise and advice with the Ministry on creating a strong and inclusive national sporting culture.

Minister for Sports and Youth, Taha Barwary, who will be hosting the conference, said:

'As Minister of Sports and Youth, I truly believe that the development of a robust sporting culture will play a vital role in the ongoing development of the Kurdistan Region; providing opportunities for participation in public life, building leadership skills and the confidence to succeed.'

Last year, a Kurdish delegation led by Minister for Sports and Youth, Taha Barwary, travelled to Cardiff, Wales, for a conference at the Welsh Institute of Sport, on the subject of developing enduring frameworks to encourage mass participation in sporting activity and excellence in devolved regions.

This month's conference will feature presentations from representatives of the Welsh Football Trust, the Youth Sport Trust and Sports Council Wales. Olympic medal winning Pentathlete Kate Allenby and Paralympian Sophie Hancock will speak on sporting excellence on an international stage, and Lesley Burn from the English Federation of Disability Sport will present on building an inclusive and participatory sporting culture. Mrs. Faezeh Hashemi, president of the Islamic Federation of Women's sport will also speak on overcoming obstacles and restrictions on development of women's sports.
